Below are general frequently asked questions and answers about payroll at IU Indianapolis.
- Go to One.IU and select the Employee Center.
- If "Employee Center" is not visible, type it into the search bar.
- On the Employee Self Service page, select "Payroll and Tax".
- In the left toolbar, select "Direct Deposit".
- On the Direct Deposit Services page, read the statement and and click on the Payroll button at the top.
- Click the "Add Account" button. Enter your bank routing number and account number (Do not use special characters). Select the Account Type (checking or savings).
- Check the "Payroll: Authorization (ACH Credit)" statement box at the bottom of the page.
- Click Submit.
Immediately upon submission you will get a message stating direct deposit set-up was successful. You will also receive an email stating that your direct deposit account was created.
If you successfully completed all of the steps above, you will receive an email confirmation noting the successful creation of your direct deposit account.
If you submitted all of your direct deposit information through One.IU prior to the close of the current pay period, your direct deposit will go into effect for that period. If you submitted your direct deposit information after the close of the current pay period, your direct deposit will go into effect the following pay period. Ask your supervisor for more details if you’re unsure when the pay period ends.
Your funds will be available on the actual pay date.
No. IU does not charge its employees for direct deposit services.
Biweekly-paid staff earn 14 vacation days and 12 sick days each year. After six years of service, they earn 19 vacation days per year.
Monthly-paid staff earn 30 days of paid time off (PTO) each year to use for vacation, sick leave, funeral attendance or other absences from work. After five years of service, they earn 36 days a year.
Yes. Monthly-paid staff are responsible for accurately recording their PTO using ePTO, which is accessible through One.IU. The following tutorials may be beneficial:

Temporary staff are paid biweekly and they do not earn any vacation or sick time.
Yes. All staff enjoy the paid holidays listed below each year:

- Campus “Floating” Holiday (available March 1st annually)

- Juneteenth
- Independence Day
- Labor Day

Additional paid time off is granted for specific purposes such as military leave, jury duty, birth or adoption of a child and funeral/bereavement (biweekly staff only).
